Born in Salvador (Brazil) and grown up in Trieste (Italy), Daniela Pobega is an international performer that worked in Italy, Spain and UK.

As a versatile artist she performed in pop, jazz, and gospel contexts, even if she specialized in musical theatre.

At the moment she’s also the leading singer of a feminine pop-rock band, D_Lay.

Training:

She studied musical theatre under the tutelage of Shawna Farrell, head of the Berstein School of Musical Theatre in Bologna (BSMT). She also studied with Mary Setrakian (New York), Nathan Martin (London), Ceris Deverill (ArtsEd, London), Leontine Has (London) and Matthew Shaw (Dance Attic, London).

In 2006 she was awarded with a special diploma for her “Outstanding Musicianship” at Umbria Jazz Clinics (the Berklee summer school in Perugia), where she studied with Donna McElroy and Dennis Montgomery III.

After the event “Gospel in CastelBrando” with the famous gospel singer Cheryl Porter, she’s started a collaboration that lasted for years, especially with a Gospel Christmas Tour in 2008.

In 2009-2010, Daniela attended the Higher Education Course “Vocologia Artistica” that took place in Ravenna (University of Bologna), directed by Dr. Giovanni Mazzotti, Dr. Franco Fussi and Dr. Silvia Magnani.

Theatre:

In 2004 Daniela debuted at Il Rossetti in Trieste in A Summernight’s Dream, as directed by Antonio Calenda, with music by Maestro Germano Mazzocchetti.

Later in 2004 she played the Bluefairy in the Compagnia della Rancia’s touring production of Pinocchio, il grande musical, directed by Saverio Marconi, with choreography by Fabrizio Angelini and music by the famous italian band the Pooh.

After the 2 years tour, she was casted in the role of Chiffon in Little shop of Horrors, as directed by Federico Bellone and choreographed by Gillian Bruce.

During the seasons 2006-2008, she was in the italian cast of Jesus Christ Superstar, direction and cohoreography by Fabrizio Angelini, as a Compagnia della Rancia’s production.

In 2009-2010, she made her first international tour at the Seoul Arts Center and in 2010-2011 at the Kaye Playhouse of New York, again as part of the Pinocchiocompany.

In the same year she plays the role of Keisha in the Stage Entertainment Italia production of Flashdance, directed by Federico Bellone, with the supervision of Glenn Casale and choreography by Gail Davies.

In 2011 she plays Nala, the role of her dreams, in the Madrid Original Cast of The Lion King that opened the 21st October at Lope de Vega Theatre, produced by Stage Entertainment Spain, for 4 seasons.

In the summer 2014 Daniela plays Sarah in the musical Ragtime at Teatro Comunale of Bologna, directed by Gianni Marras, musically directed by Shawna Farrell and conductor Stefano Squarzina.

In 2015 she plays Elizabeth, leading singer in the italian production of Dirty Dancing by Wizard, directed by Federico Bellone and choreography by Gillian Bruce and, after a short running of Peter Pan at LinearCiak in Milan, directed by Maurizio Colombi and choreography by Rita Pivano, as Tiger Lily, she’s asked to play Elizabeth in the Dirty Dancing UK touring production and West End (Phoenix Theatre).

In 2019 Daniela plays the role of Jane in A Bronx Tale, at Teatro Nuovo in Milan, directed by Claudio Insegno and choreography by Luca Peluso.

Concerts:

In Trieste she has collaborated with Il Rossetti more than once, in recitals as Musical Journey (Sala Bartoli) and concert shows as Musical StarTs produced by the executive producer Stefano Curti.
In Madrid she also took part of the show Human Again, produced by Broadway World Spain at Nuevo Alcalá Theatre.
In Lithuania she performed in Carmen Cubana, produced by Medusa Concert.
Back to Italy Daniela focused on her personal projects.
She participate in a jazz festivals as Trieste Loves Jazz with the show Musical ’n’ Jazz and Muggia Jazz Festival with the 1000 Streets’ Orchestra.
She organised the Christmas show La Vera Storia del Natale at Teatro Bobbio in Trieste.
One of her current projects is a revisitation of historical pieces of dance and soul music in House and Deep House versions. Produced by Franz Contadini on the RNC Music label, the single “Upside Down” has been released and available in streaming and download on all digital stores.
She recently collaborated with the D_LAY band, in the cover song “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me”.

Vocal Coaching:

Since her diploma at “Vocologia Artistica” in 2010, and the degree at DAMS, Discipline dello Spettacolo, in 2018, she also gives musical masterclasses around Italy and she participated as vocal coach in the TV program Sanremo Young 2019.
